Hogenakkal Water Falls

Hogenakkal falls on Kaveri River in Dharmapuri District of Tamilnadu are a whole series of waterfalls spread over an area of one Kilometer approximately. The name of the waterfall has been derived from two Kannada words – ‘hoge’ meaning smoke and ‘kal’ meaning rock. The Carbonatite rocks found near the waterfall are one of the oldest in the world.The water drops from an elevation of about 65 ft at its highest point and from 15 ft at its lowest point. Coracles can be hired to get closer to the waterfall.

No Tickets are needed to watch Hogenakkal Falls. Eventhough Falls view are free of cost arriving near falls may empty your pocket.There is no other way to see the WaterFalls other than going in a coracle. A coracle is a round bamboo boat and charged 250 Rs per head

Boating in Coracles made of Bamboo is major attraction in Hogenakkal Falls. The coracles are about 2.24 m (7 ft 4 in) in diameter, but still can take a load of eight persons at a time. Heavy bargaining is recommended.
